What color are original mats supposed to be for my car?

You might want to consider black or red Coco mats that are the rage with the Porsche gang. I had a tan set made for my car 10 years ago and the still look great. The photo below is from this year. They make them to custom fit your car including floor mounting posts. They are about $180 before shipping. Below is a pic of my 10-year-old passenger side. The driver's side looks just as good. It has a strong vinyl heel pad under the gas peddle.

I think black mats in red interior look terrible. Floormats should be matchy matchy with the carpet.
Sincerely, guy with black interior & black floormats who wishes he had red interior.

I'm sure you do wish for the red awesomeness some of us have the privilege of calling our own. So yeah, I have good condition original black mats but want a set of good condition original red mats to go with my red carpeting. I would be so happy

I have a 2001 as well. My car had the red interior and the carpeting and floor mats look just like what you have. My car only has 1 hook as well. I don't remember which year they added the second hook.
I currently have a set of black extended length floormats installed. Sometimes I wish I had red ones again, but the black hide dirt better.

I have recently bought a 2003 grand prix white w/ tan interior... when I bought it, it came with black mats with "S2000" printed on them... It would have originally had tan mats, right? Any ideas on where I could pick up original tan mats?

No I do not think it came with tan mats actually. I could be wrong but my GPW with red interior came with black mats with S2000 embroidered on them.
