Default 08 CR exhaust on 04 AP2?

I've searched but cannot find much definitive info on the CR exhaust specs compared to an AP2 system. It has a straight through pipe in the mufflers, but is a slight tone change the ONLY benefit? Is the CR system any lighter than an AP2 setup? Does it have any impact on output? There is one for sale cheap and would buy it if I thought there was any measurable benefit to be gained. Any insight appreciated...

How cheap are you talking about? Since you're not going to gain any power, an alternative may be replacing the helmholtz and mid-pipe resonator with a straight pipe. Price it out at your local muffler shop.

It's practically new but didn't realize that was a high price.

That is. S2k stock exhaust is almost worthless. Go get your resonator removed and you'll find the note MUCH better.

Removing the OEM resonator will turn your low rumble note to a high pitch rattling sound. You don't want that. The CR exhaust system is lighter than a regular OE system but not much, 10 lbs maybe. If you just want a little bit louder exhaust, get a testpipe. CR exhaust + TP =

$100 or even less for a used CR exhaust is about right.
