You don't need to own a printer to print things. There's sites like 3DHub that finds people around you that own a printer or can print for you. Price depending on material and size. I personally haven't used it yet but I know people who have.
I wouldn't print shift knobs, unless you have a helicoil or an internal nut. I would print shift knobs to see if you like the feel of it on your hand before you chuck it up on a lathe and have it machined.
I thought of 3D printing side strakes since I didn't like the OEM design. But I ended up not pursuing it.

They're all over the map for a reason. Some have better resolution than others, some are more flexible in that you can use different materials and some are easier to maintain.

With that being said, a $300-400 machine would get the job done. A shift knob is small and simple.

My machine is pretty big and will print relatively large stuff. I use mine mostly for making small parts that Honda doesn't sell individually, like plastic clips that holds the door lock rod and whatnot.

I have actually been looking into this, I just need to get the measurements and design something that will fit and work properly.

It would be a shame if people stop contributing.

Dang, I seen all these replies and thought we might have some form of open dialect going on maker items for the S2k.. not this mess! haha
Astroboy, maybe start a new thread for 3d print/maker brainstorming and if someone posts something that a vendor takes offence to they can PM them.

To those who don't know about maker spaces or think "I can't afford a 3d printer" there's freecad software out there (even google has one) and maker places are all over the place. Colleges etc.
It's usually dudes hanging out playing with plasma cutters and stuff. Do some searching!
