80 dollar EBAY header installed

After selling my supercharger ive decided to do soem n/a mods while trying to keep the budget very low. This header looked very promising as it has 50mm primaries 2in secondaries and a 2.5 collector, like most name brand headers.

There are some imperfections with it though. The collector merge isnt very good.

and some of the weld protruded into the exhaust flow

but i took a dremel to them and made it more smooth.

install was very easy and nothing rubbed or touched the motor.

The car felt a little more respnsive and overall i think it helped a little, definetly worth th 80 dollars. I had a J's racing header before this and i would say I felt the same improvement.

No before and after dyno right?

SRap1 11-19-2010 10:45 AM

no, i was going to, but i thought it would be a waste of money since i still have my 70mm tb and intake manifold to put on.

I believe you're located in Newport news va? If so can I check this out?

$80 header. Pretty awesome. I can see people just doing this as a cosmetic upgrade assuming no power loss.

I have always seen those on Ebay and wondered how well they were made. thanks for making this thread. Would it lean it out to much to have a full Header/testpipe/catback exhaust system and an intake? Do you think you would need to tune it?

Moddiction 11-19-2010 10:55 AM

If it leans it out that is a good thing since it would most likely mean better flow and makes some power actually. AP1's shouldn't get too lean from I/H/E etc. Ap2's possibly.

u got the guts to try that header :D

SRap1 11-19-2010 11:08 AM

Its not like it can damage anything, and it was only 80 dollars, seemed worth the try to me. I did some research on why the hytrech and J's made power. Besides being well built, and the insides all smooth, it comes down to diameter and length of the tubes. Hytech has very similar pipe diameter to this. So i figuired it might be a descent header. Besides i hated the fact that i payed 1000 dollars for a J's header that i wasnt happy with.

Cool man, as long as it works for you, thats great.

I actually have a JVT header on my s2k, and its pretty much an ebay one. If you search s2000 JVT in the search on Ebay you can find them. They are around the $200 mark which isnt bad for what it is. It has decent welds on everything, and it hasnt cracked or anything and it has around 7k miles on it right now. A guy actually dyno'ed his years back and made a 4whp gain with just the header, which was impressive for a $200 header. I wish I could find that thread again.

Here are the specs of the JVT:

Mounting Flange (Engine Side): 44x50mm oval
Primaries: 45mm ID / 48mm OD
Secondaries: 54mm ID / 57mm OD
Collector: 61mm ID / 63.5mm OD
Weight: 11.8#
Material thickness: .05" (polished in the area the measurement was taken
