Adjustable recaros

Anyone have experience with these seats? Thought I remembered reading they don’t fit well?

Seller tells me the have never been installed and come with no mounting hardware or brackets/sliders

I’m not crazy about the red stitching but the pair of seats is less than the cost of reupholstering 1 of my oe seats

Found this video of Quinn installing them in an ap2.

Just ordered sliders from Summit and the slim seatbelt bolt from Black Hawk jpn.

i plan on mocking up the seats after I clean them. Then I’ll finish the install when the parts show up

Love Griot’s!

Not sure if you can tell between the 2 pics I posted but this Griot’s 3n1 leather cleaner gave that showroom new look to the leather. That sort of matte dull as opposed to a shiny armor all kind of finish. Can’t wait to get these in

Recliner knob delete

Well, this wasn’t mentioned in Quinn’s video. I just tried to test fit the seat, wanted to see how it would look. Having both recliner knobs on, there isn’t enough room to fit the seat. So looks like 1 more purchase and a quick cut of the shaft is all that is needed to get these in the S.

Starting to spiral

this is not going well. I’m going to keep looking but I’m starting to think I won’t be able to get these in

That video I watched was for a Scheelmann seat (even though the title is “Recaro speed recline delete”) the mech on this is different. Not looking good…

It was easy enough to take the knob off but the shaft feels like hardened steel. I hit it a few time with a dead blow to see if I could remove it from the seat, no dice. Looks like I could trim an inch off it and have the clearance I need to fit the seat. I’m not crazy about doing it though

If I wasn’t so certain these would fit, I would have checked this before I brought them home. There is 20” from the tunnel to the rocker in which to fit a seat. Widest part of the recaro speed’s are the knobs, they measure 21”. I read that I could remove both knobs and recline the seat with a vice grip. Not ideal.

one thing Quinn does mention in his video is not being able to work the knob with the slider all the way back. Something I was willing to work with. This so far has been more that I bargained for.

All I can think is if you could fabricate a lever out of flat stock that would engage that shaft, so it is not sticking out so far. not sure if that buys you an inch though. Lever could be bent so that it lies right against the side of the seat for the best clearance and be pulled up to recline? With some trimming is it possible to have that lever go in behind that plastic around the knob area so it brings it in even further, with an offset bend to then allow it to clear the side of the seat just enough to operate it?
