I thought about waiting for AEM to release theirs, but I am skeptical of that design. And I admit it is probably a better place for power than behind the fake brake ducts where most of the tube style CAIs reloacate the filter to.
I'd be very concerned about driving on the freeway in a downpour. Not from splashing below--below the car you're covered by the splash guards. And no dremeling would make this a nice, quick install. But I would worry a lot about water coming straight in the radiator cutout into the intake if I were running this product.

I wouldn't be much more concerned about hydrolock from this design than I was with the AEM V1 unless the piping dips down from the filter before going up to the engine. However, the filter will take a serious beating from bugs, rocks, and dirt. I would be worried that the filter media would eventually be damaged enough to quit filtering.

what about any of the ram/snorkle-style intakes (password JDM, etc)that put a huge mouth in about the same spot as AEM has the filter on this? is the potential problem here water coming in and falling down onto the top of the filter, rather than "straight-in" the front, which would seem to be about the same risk as the snorkle?
isn't there some type of "umbrella" for the current AEM intakes? could something similar be designed for this?

The only way I would ever use a intake would be with a bypass valve.

Some people argue it defeats the purpose of a CAI and losses are the power you got possibly get, idk why that would be the case.
Unfortunately... i invested to late...
