So my AP1 blows clouds of oil turn High G turns, and while I've been researching catch cans, I think I'll first upgrade to an 04-05 valve cover and PCV to see if it tames the blue clouds. Here's what I have listed so far

Hey B., I did the same upgrade on my Ap1, it may have reduced oil inflow into the manifold but it did not cure it. I have now gone with a Radium Catch can. Try the valvecover swap first but if it does not resolve the issue a catch can should be the next step.

The 04-05 valvecover is the one you want. Secondly, parts 8 and 9 are the pcv parts you want for the ap2 valvecover (pcv valve and washer), parts 1 and 4 are the ap1 equivalent parts which look totally different than the ap2 parts and they will not fit the ap2 cover, that's why you can't even select them on the ap2 chart, they just show up on the diagram.

I think you are spot on with all of the parts you listed. The pcv hose is the same part number for ap1 and ap2 valvecovers, so I believe that can be re-used despite hooking up to a different pcv valve part.

Yeah I was looking at the hose and it should be fine. If not...UPS will get a little more of my money

Last dragon trip in my 07 AP2 I actually had a cloud blow on 28 south of 74, and it scared me to death, and that car had seen an autox and 8 track days at CMP...was the only time it ever happened. Plus, I think the AP1 valve cover will make some nice man cave candy

I also read going from Mobil1 to Amsoil helped some folks as well, but Im not sure why that would matter when baffle design and G-forces really seem to be the main issues.

hey mate I did alot of research on catch cans and also was it wortwhile changing the valve cover.

In short going AP2 valve cover the results I found were oil was still being kept up top and thus falling out of the breather and PCV. The fix to the valve cover is taking it off, and drilling more holes for the oil to drop and return back into the engine. That being said you can do this on the AP1.

Really quickly as well as I already created a thread about my findings. Best catch can is the one from offer by Saikou Michi. It has technology inside the catch can that actually works, and the Radium was well overpriced, and draining was painful due to the location of mounting. I been working with Saikou for a few months now refining and testfitting different setups as I just dont like the battery location for the install. I am mounting mine in front of the radiator, with extra space I am running oversized 3inch cans. and I cut a small piece of the undertray out so I can just turn the 1/4 turn ball valve and drain straight to a tray!

Last I checked with saikou he was 90+ days out on delivery, so I went with universal ADD-W1 cans found on eBay, and made a bracket to mount them to the bracket the air pump fuse box clips to, and folded that box down under the brake lines to get it out of the way.

Isnt that better than majority of the other off-the-shelf catch cans that are merely an empty metal box? Go troll elsewhere, your posts are half the reason why there is so much rubbish people got to go through to find decent tech info. Nice contibution to this post, three words and an acronym.

Add w1 cans have a special chamber you can put mesh or stainless scrubber material or whatever you please into.

Yea and because of you everyone is going to think a mesh screen is technology. If you did any research you would know that there are plenty of options that also use "wire mesh" technology as you like to put it. Some have baffling that don't require the use of wire mesh. Mishimoto for one uses a fine metal filter that separates the condensation.
