Automatic transmission mated to an s2000

Has anyone mated an auto tranny to an s2k? I'm no longer able to drive my s2k and wondered if a high performance auto tran could possible work/fit in a s2k? An accident last year left me a para and unable to drive my dream car. May just have to sell it but would rather not.
Thanks
Chuck

worst comes to worse you can put a 240sx automatic motor and transmission in there. All those kids throw those away to swap SR20DET's in. Maybe the 240 auto tranny hooks up to a sr20det. That would be fast.

otherwise i dont know if honda makes anything rear wheel drive and auto

Man, I would have to think there would be a way. Maybe a modified RL tranny, so it is just RWD? With enough collective knowledge on this site, someone should have some pretty good ideas.

Come on guys throw out some ideas for a great cause!!

A GM Powerglide tranny would work for your setup. Contact one of the companies that sell race transmissions. You would need an adapter plate, but thats not a big deal. I have seen these trannys on everything from a big block Chevy to a 4 cyl DSM.

The RX-8 and Miata both offer an automatic, and considering all three cars use manual transmissions made by the same manufacturer (Aisin), there may be more commonality to work with. Once again, the S2000 was never designed to be mated to an automatic, and would require a lot to make it work.
These vehicles also have a lot of commonality in the diff department as well. The S2000's diff is made by Mazda I believe.

Another option may involve using an automatic from the last generation Supra Turbo. I've seen both manual and automatic versions of the complete engine and drivetrain dropped into S2000s.

I hope the information helps.

There have been a few people to swap autos into the s2k. This was a couple years ago aswell. Do a little searching on google and you may find one and look into who had done he swap.

trans axles dont usually work in a RWD car

sorry to bust anyones bubbles but acura line of honda are not RWD. just FWD with rear assist. now lexus on the other head. do have REAL RWD toyotas

Hey, sorry to hear about that man. I agree that it would probably be better to sell the car, not trying to burst your bubble, but a swap of this magnitude will require lots of money, and I'm assuming its not smoething you can throw around. It can be done though, if you do have the $ to. Like everyone said: 240sx engine/trans, supra engine/trans would be easiest. its going to be hard to get a trans to mate up to the s2000 engine, since its a one-off honda engine, one of the few or one of the only new RWD honda 4 cyls.

How about an electric actuator button built on steering wheel to activate the clutch??
Or a custom built to the left dash (a metal rod from the clutch to your left hand level ) so you can hit the clutch with your left hand may not be safe.
