Leave the battery stock size, and get a cheap solar charger. It won't charge a dead battery, but will keep a charged one topped off for extended time (if its parked outside in sun).

I don't recall off the top of my head if the power outlet (used to be called a cigarette lighter port) will have an open circuit without the key in the ignition and turned to the acc position. If that is the case, the solar charger will not work as intended.

Those solar chargers were great for older cars (read airport beater cars left for a week or two) but on newer cars they will not work unless you provide a direct battery connection.

I also think you should keep the battery stock size. This car motor is so small the draw for adequate turn over is not a big deal unlike a F150 Super Duty in Fargo during the winter. If you use a synthetic 0W-30 oil you will find the engine will turnover in very cold environments that most people would not even bother driving this car around in especially with summer performance tires. (I know, I know people will put on snow tires)

I find batteries last about 5 years, a little less on my auto house generator. As soon as there is a hick-up, I just get an new battery. My local Honda dealer gave me a good deal on one; they matched the Costco price and installed it for me.

I did get (on sale at Costco) one of those battery tenders for about $30. I bolted on the short harness on the battery and when I use it, I snake the cord down the engine underneath and out the side where the thing is plugged in on the floor. I have a cover I use a lot inside the garage so the "down and out" cable routing works well. I leave sign (paint stirrer stick with "Battery Charging" written on it with a marker) on the seat or dash to remind me not to drive away with it hooked up! LOL!

Its not difficult to hookup a cig lighter port to bypass ignition. There is even a blade connector on the fusebox under dash for this purpose.
