Question C.A.R.B Cats Nowhere To Be Found

Anyone else in CA notice this? Every retailer I've checked with is out of stock for at least 4-5 weeks. I've checked Napa, O'Reilly, Autozone, Rock Auto, Advance, and even Honda dealerships. Luckily I have other cars I can drive to work but does anyone know what's going on? Did all of our cats die simultaneously? XD

*Edit - I found a dealer that can order one. FOR $2,100...

You can try carbcats dot com it’s a database site that list all CARB approved cats. It’s not a retail site, but it lets you know if there is a manufacturer that makes a cat for your vehicle.

Just curious how anyone knows the catalytic converter is CARB compliant (or not) when it's shrouded by the OEM heatshield and the car passes all the smog tests.

I'm fairly certain it's still compliant without the heatshield, I haven't had any issues.

There's a Berk high flow cat hiding inside that heat shield which you didn't see and was the point. I doubt it's CARB approved but how is anyone to know without disassembly if it passes the emissions testing?

Oh, well that works too but only if your HFC doesn't trigger the secondary O2 sensor and other monitors. I used to run a 63mm Berk with the OEM heatshield before switching to a Gernby exhaust and could never get the secondary O2 CEL to go away without disabling it in Flashpro, which would have lead to a failure come smog time.

It's definitely worth a shot, but not a guarantee.

That's what $10 02 bung extenders are for.

Oh I tried those. CEL kept coming on after a couple hundred miles. Dunno what my issue was but that shouldn't deter the OP from trying at least.
