Clutch Questions
Hi All,
Just installed the clutch masters stage 3 clutch and ap1 flywheel. A couple of quick post-install questions.
1.)I had recently flushed my clutch fluid about 2 months before this install. Should I re-flush or is it safe to run on current fluid.
2.) I use motul rbf 600 for my brakes. Is it safe/recommended to run this same fluid for my clutch? I know its not nessary but will this high of a boiling point be an issue for a clutch.
3.) What is the recommended brake in period for a new clutch/fly?
I will keep you all posted on how my clutch feels after break-in. For daily driving, the car feels almost exactly the same. NO BUZZ OR CHATTER AT ALL!!!!! The clutch effort is the exact same as the stock my08 clutch, which it much lighter then pre-my08. (I compared my car my08 back to back with my friends my07. The my08 pedal pressure is at least 30% or so less then MY07.)

1.) You should be fine with your fluid as long as it is not badly discolored or you notice some issues with pedal feel
2.) I'd use regular DOT 3 brake fluid for the clutch. It will last longer then the high performance fluid. The clutch fluid does not go through the same temp. extremes as the brakes.
3.) Depends on your driving style and manufacturer. My SPEC kevlar clutch took close to 2000 miles to fully break in, the manufacturer suggested 600-800 miles.

wow 2000 miles thats crazy. i was planning to bang through the gears after 500 miles but i am starting to rethink. How were you able to tell it was fully broken in? As i am not 100% sure what to expect from an aftermarket clutch so I dont think I will be able to tell when its fully broken in.
The clutch fluid in there should be fine. Pedal pressure is normal and I have only driven 2-3k miles on the fluid that is in there now. I was just not sure if its "required" to change flush the clutch after install, but i guess its not.

I installed the clutchmasters stage 3 and had my ap1 flywheel resurfaced in may. I went to the Dyno after 500 pretty easy miles with a supercharged S2000. I probably have over a thousand miles on the car now and haven't had any problems.
I asked this in the under the hood section but no responses.....
I waited 500 miles for break-in.
I just started getting on it. When I shift at revline it makes a tiny squeak noise from the clutch (not the pedal). Also the clutch engagement is a bit rough at revline and shifting is just a tad clunky. Also the clutch grabs a little high not sure if this is normal for the clutch i have.
Thoughts? Does the clutch just need some more time to break-in? Anything potential issues? Could this be related to the Clutch Pivot Point, Release Fork, or TO bearing?

Yeah....I let this IDIOT test drive my car yesterday. And I'm the idiot for letting him do it...but he shifted fast from 1st to 2nd and then to 3rd redlining it. And I swear, my clutch feels like it grabs even higher now.
