convex JDM left-side mirror installation and pictures

GIven the large blind spots on the S2000 and after a near-miss, I got a convex Honda JDM left side view mirror for the 2005 RYP. Installation is straightforward, though it took more force than I expected to separate the old mirror due to the sticky strips holding it on. The JDM mirror snapped right on (it does not have the sticky strips).

I took pictures from the driver's perspective without a stand, so there is some variation. Both pictures are with the mirrors all the way out, horizon at about middle. With the convex mirror, everything looks to be about twice as far back but the sightline is greatly expanded. It seems the lane over next to the driver will be completely visible. I'll be giving the mirror a test drive tomorrow. Coupled with a Broadway 300mm flat mirror, hopefully this takes care of the blind spots, top up or down.

The mirror cost about $80, but it's worth it even if it helps avoid one "incident." There is a much cheaper OBX alternative, but I went with OEM for the guaranteed quality. The same mirror from the UK is also quite a bit cheaper than $80, including shipping.

Ordered mine from Amayama for like $34 shipped directly from Japan....

Nice DIY though. Haven’t put mine on yet. Who charged you 80 bucks? They deserve to swing from a tree branch lol

I wasn't aware of that site! I was willing to pay though I knew it was overpriced but I couldn't find a cheaper option. Thanks for letting me know.

Yeah man, I love Amayama. Got lots of parts that US dealers say are discontinued from there. Shipping can suck sometimes, but it definitely beats out middleman vendors capitalizing on people who don’t know. Buy with confidence from them, only thing is shipping takes a little longer as it comes direct from Japan.

I’ve had the convex left side JDM mirror on both my S2000s——-highly recommend it—its especially helpful with the top up.

I had a huge blind spot over my left shoulder with the OEM mirror and the JDM mirror eliminated it.

Here are some shots of mine. Here is the stock mirror with the packaging for the JDM mirror. The stock mirror had a white, sticky, putty that never hardens to help keep the mirror in place and stop vibrations. You can see some of it on the bottom edge.

Here is the comparison. The convex mirror captures about twice what the flat stock one does. The last pic shows how you can still see the car next to you, in this case the garage.

I might add, I purchased an off brand mirror and installed it. However, I was unhappy with the optical quality and I returned it. I went for the JDM one off eBay and it was clearly superior.

You can get the LH JDM mirror at RHDJapan and add it to an order of aftermarket parts too.

MUGEN side mirrors and zoom engineering TS rear view mirror eliminated any blind I had. I have one set of MUGEN mirrors for sale in the link, in my signature.

That does increase ones view! Isn't there something for the passenger as well?

bump, is there a passenger side? would definitely be interested in a pair otherwise, I might opt for Spoons mirror replacements as an alternative for my OCD
