Crankshaft pulley (OEM or ATI?)
 

Hi Folks,
First, apologies in advance if this is a repetitive topic. I really tried to search for a definitive answer in the forum and I didn't find it. Maybe after a few years of members playing with ATI Super dampers and other solutions like Fluidampr now there is a more definitive answer or experiences on these mods.

Question is: If I need to change the crankshaft pulley, Should I continue with OEM or use the opportunity to upgrade to ATi Super Damper (Street)? Scenario: Just safety upgrade for my F20C with massive amount of miles, no boost on my car, just trackdays from time to time and spirited drives over the weekend. Let’s assume cost is not a problem and let’s focus on technical things only.

Things to take into account with ATI Super damper (street version!):
- Weight: OEM->4.7LB vs ATI Super Damper (Street) ->3.6Lbs . Is there any problem with this?
- Ratio: Despite the fact ATI Super Damper (Street) uses the stock serpentine belt there is an overdrive of 7% that I guess is putting more demand on accessories such as water pump and alternator.

I run a fluidamper just because my internals are not stock. The whole point is to reduce vibrations of the internals, which honda did an excellent job at. If you are all stock stay with OEM. If you look at graphs, even ATIs, their damper is actually worse at low rpm. Same with fluidamper. They only provide more dampening at higher RPMs..

I have a Fluidampr on my stock AP2 (F22C) and it feels like vibrations have gone down across the board. I took a video earlier using my phone to measure vibration at idle in the cabin before and after installation but I had slightly stiffer engine mounts then.

At 9k^ rpm stay with oem,its designed for 9K^ get a low mileage replacement if you are worried.

I wish i can do that man :(. I'm from Chile where the s2000 was never released/arrived. The only way to get one is from usa or japan having special paperwork and goverment autorization. I would say there are no more than 30-40 in my country right now. It's very rare to see one on sale these years.

Knowing that, the only thing i can do is taking care of all possible failures on my s2k and that's the reason for the question.

That looks like mine when I took it out and it was completely fine at that point. That said, I really like the smoothing effect of the Fluidampr at all points in the rev band.
