Cutting the resonator
Has anybody here simply cut the resonator on the stock exhaust? I know the gains are minimal when it comes to buying an aftermarket exhaust. I'm thinking of cutting the resonator off of the stock exhaust just to get some sound. Does it sound good? Can anyone link videos?

Doesn't deleting it hurt the midrange drastically? And are you talking about deleting the branch resonator or the big resonator?
also at gtmotoring. Did you delete both resonators or just the big one in that video?

Removing the OEM resonator would reduce the lower midrange performance if you had VTEC lowered (below 4500), and would also hurt perfornance above 5500 with any tune. The OEM resonator is designed to deliver it's "load" from VTEC on up.

I got my inline resonator cut (not the Helmholtz). And I really regret it. It sounds nasty with the oem cat. Even worse with a test pipe. Too raspy.

I ran an OEM AP2 exhaust with a straight 2.5" pipe from cat to split for a while. Performance probably suffered but I couldn't feel it, it did sound more aggressive, but no where near raspy (YMMV). IMO it's nearly impossible to feel the difference an exhaust mod makes in street driving.

I had my resonator removed a few years ago. With the stock CAT it does sound a bit throatier. With a TP it sounds like a swarm of bees(really bad). All in all I would recommend leaving it and save up for an aftermarket exhaust.
