DIY Felt/Fabric Fender Liner
 

After getting new wheels, 17x9 +45 with 245/40 square, I'm ready to roll/pull my fenders. I have searched and searched for a way to keep the factory fender liner without completely tearing it apart or removing it all together but I can't find anything I actually like. After messing with the factory plastic liners for a while I thought of how my previous BMW M3 had a felt lining in the rear, and some sort of DIY felt lining up front. I'm not entirely sure on how this would work with fenders that are rolled flat but has anyone done this before?

The easiest solution is to trim the OEM liners along the lines of the area that can hang down and come into contact with the wheel. From there you can tuck the liner behind of above the tabs that were bent out of the way, and 3m double sided tape the portion that is floating above the wheel to the underside of the fender.

Have you ever had any issues with the tape coming off and hanging down? It's my daily driver and it would suck if that happened while driving.

Just cut the portion that hangs down (closest to the outside of the fender). I have 18x8.5 with a 255 and I don't run at all

The fender liner is held in my a bunch of clip and hardware. You will not remove much of them. Just trim the outer edge like the others suggested. You can look at my tips guide as well.

If you trim the fender liner appropriately, it doesn't need to be supported by anything, the way it is attached will cause it to sit right up against the fender. The liners have a pattern in them that is pretty clear when looking at one to tell how to trim it.

I am imaging the beemer fabric liner was attached to a plastic liner anyway. Fabric attached directly to metal sounds like a recipe for moisture retention induced rust.

That is what I was thinking as well. Or it is something that feels a little like felt but is more water resistant than the felt your buy at a craft store.
