EZ Lip Splitter

7 Attachment(s)
Hello to all! :tipwink:

I wanted to try the EZ Lip universal splitter on the s2000. I had seen maybe one photo of it somewhere.
The material is a flexible rubber that conforms to your bumper, or lip. The adhesive is 3M.
I personally wanted a lip protector for my oem lip. With the car being lowered and all, scrapes will happen from time to time underneath.
As you can see in one of my photos.

I used alcohol to wipe under the lip(or bumper)
scissors to cut excess trim. simple.

I like it! Looks better than the Home Depot garage door option. How tough is the rubber? Do you think it'll hold up ok over time?

Timedeye 01-29-2012 02:04 PM

rubber seems great and flexible, since its 3m adhesive, it should hold up well. You could also go even further and use screws if you wanted to. But for me 3m should hold just fine.

mandru5891 01-29-2012 04:16 PM

Interesting.. I wonder how the sides would look?

Driven 01-29-2012 04:57 PM

plywood seems the way to go... stiff, easy to cut, cheap, and proven.

dcmonkey 01-29-2012 07:02 PM

thats just homedepot garage door bottom sealer with 3m double sided tape added to it.... trust me i know, i work doing home improvements and so forth.... clever idea though!

chViETnk 01-30-2012 01:19 AM

honestly if you are scraping already, i would assume you would probably scrape this off anyways?

CLEANs2000 01-30-2012 03:10 AM

30 bucks for 7.5 feet..... i payed like 15 bucks for 30 feet at home depot.... and 3 bucks for the 3m tape.

Time will tell. I scrape every now and then, depends where I drive though, this is not my dd. but at least I won't be scraping my paint, which is all I care about at this point.

To each their own. I ran into ezlip browsing through other non s2000 forums. I've heard of the DIY many times. Im sure their many types of garage seals. I'm more then
happy to pay the extra $10-12 to have someone make it for me, and delivered to my doorstep.
Some people like to pay over $300 for an apr splitter. Others like to do their own replica for hardly much. I totally understand your point.

Reckon 01-30-2012 07:25 AM

Nice. I think I still plan on going with the Coastal Metals splitter, but this is a very affordable alternative!

Ouhei 01-30-2012 05:11 PM

I've always thought these were interesting. Wonder if it'd look any good on a mugen lip...

Just ordered for my car.

Some people like a functional "splitter", you're right. What you installed will split nothing and have no aerodynamic effect.

Maybe EZ Lip did some heavy R&D and engineered progressive deflection into the material allowing an angle change at speed resulting in higher negative under-car pressure for reduced lift. In any case, it still looks better than my naked OEM bumper.

I'm not against a " functional splitter"! My point was some people are willing to buy a apr splitter for over 300 bucks and have it delivered to their front door, Others like to take
the task of DIY. Their is nothing wrong with either or. I did not install this for aerodynamic purposes. As I stated in my first post PROCTECTION OF MY LIP! So far so good :)

s2kslav 02-01-2012 09:07 PM

i dont get why everyone is so negative about this mod. it looks pretty clean, almost like a CR front lip that has the bottom flat plastic part. ive been looking for a way to finish up my amuse front, it was always missing something to me. i was never brave enough to cut it up to make a proper splitter and adding a flat splitter on the bottom doesnt look right. this might be the perfect solution. thanks OP, just placed an order.

Shadow_S2K 02-01-2012 10:06 PM

Is this any different than the garage piece that home depot sells? Because the material will start to sag and deform over time.....not to mention it will flap around at pretty much any speed.

Pretty sure it's the same kind of stuff. I hope for the price they're charging it's at least the nicest garage door sealer you can buy.

mavericckk.. 02-02-2012 03:09 PM

this company is banking selling this at double the price!

my "HD" lip..looks the same to me. :D

Just installed mine , it' looks nice overall but I want to do something to the edges. But don't kno what make it round? Also has none tried the side skirts?

kerm1t 02-25-2012 02:48 AM

do you have any pictures on the sides? looks great though

Mark355 02-25-2012 04:14 AM

Mine is on the way. Review coming.

Rubn1out4GudLuk 02-25-2012 08:49 AM

Here's a pic of the "EZ splitter" installed on my car...

http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-...55639467_n.jpg

From this moment on I will be calling it a lip protector because that is what it is.

Sadly, I had it on for about an hour. The front became too low because the lip protector angles downwards towards the front at a pretty aggressive angle (45+ degree slope). Rubbed on every incline I encountered within the drive. So I pulled it off. It's a decent product but just not for me. :)

SkateForGirl 02-25-2012 01:23 PM

I just ordered one to protect my lip. Thanks for sharing OP!

Looks like they are buying parts from home depot and putting it in a new box and charging double the price. Looks 100% identical to my home depot garage lining.

Derick 11-15-2012 10:43 AM

So the ez lip doesn't work for me. I thought I would give it a try and the first day I had it on it scraped off. My pretty low so I didn't have much hope for the lip anyway just thought it would have lasted a little longer:( looked good while it later tho

VFX_S2K 08-29-2019 01:41 PM

Dead Thread I know but - Anyone still using this, or happy with it? I need to protect my perfect bumper from curbs and driveways.

Thanks

JDMpearlwhyteZ 08-30-2019 09:11 PM

I have it on my daily driver, it looks okay but I wouldn’t put it on my S. Plus it really isn’t that durable, mine is all ****ed up and it’s been maybe 6 months.

Thanks for the update!

I’ll look into other options. Maybe a lip or ‘splitter’ - almost impossible to keep that bumper free from damage with driveways and curbs.

Yea I’d get the low pro aero bumper protector. I had that in the past with my apr lip. I liked it a lot.
