HKS 75mm Single- Silencer Available?
 

Recently got pulled over with a 3" test pipe and the HKS 75mm single for being too loud. Rather than spend the time needed to replace the exhaust system with the stock one, then reinstall it again, I'm looking for other options. The easiest way I thought up was to simply use a silencer when getting the ticket written off by the CHP. Does anyone know which silencer, if any, is available that will fit this exhaust? I did some searching, and it seems likely that the 3306-RA072 (http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/mm...ode=3306-RA074) would be a match. Can anyone personally confirm this?

Yup, there are silencers that will work. I bought a 96mm "hks" silencer. Doesnt look like the one you posted. Looks more like two flanges with a pipe in the middle. I had to modify the holes on the silencer (also known as smacking it with a hammer) because they didnt line up perfectly but they were pretty close. Install, including modifications, took about 10 minutes. Just remove the tip, put in the silencer, and then use the tip's bolts to secure the silencer and tip.

Makes the car a bit more quiet. Its not a huge difference but it really does make it neighborhood friendly. Ive had one on my 75mm for over 2 years and it has never given me a problem. No rattles or anything. Easy to remove too if you want to go back to an unrestricted exhaust for spirited drives.

As an alternative, interestingly the best-fitting one is made by APEXi and a direct fit no mod req. Also it has black face so once installed, it'll take a close look to note that there is a silencer.

called Apexi Super Silencer and size to get is 90mm. On HKS, it sits well within the muffler tip that combined with the black face, it's very hard to tell its in there.

Old thread but putting a silencer can get the cops to get off ur nuts??. So if I put a silencer on, I won't have to worry about them telling me to take it off and put stock back on?

It should. I just bought the HKS one from evasive. been waiting almost 2 weeks now. Hope it fits and helps with the loudness.

I'm running the HKS silencer on mine. Makes it much quieter. Still drones a little but it's not too bad. I had to file out the holes though because they didn't line up. Sounds like I got the same one as TabriS2k. It looks different from the one in the original post.
