I have this one, and it works like a charm.

Removes lug nuts and brake calipers with no problems (all I've ever used it for).

I have a basic cordless Dewalt impact driver that was given to me. It uses those screwdriver-size bits, and I have one that converts to a 1/2" socket size. Takes off lug nuts with no trouble.

I have this and it's great...http://m.homedepot.com/p/Bosch-18-Vo...-01/204372362/
But you're buying at the wrong time... Black fri through Christmas is best.
That impact costs $400...but rather than pay that I got a drill and driver combo at holiday sale for like $160 and the bare impact for like $220...so three tools and two batteries for around same $400

The larger DCF889B Dewalt 20V max, 1/2 inch impact driver is a good one and will do everything you need. The very compact DCF883B 3/8 inch Dewalt is not as strong, but it's more compact, nice for working under a car.
Even the compact DCF880B Dewalt 20V max gets good reviews, but it's limited to 150 foot pounds. Remember, real world reviews on this one are great too.
However, the best is still air powered units.
