Many of us (like me) know just enough about the S2000 exhaust to "know" a 70mm exhaust is less than ideal as it slows gas flow. Or something like that! The header is sub-60mm and jumping into a 70mm pipe does less than ideal things to exhaust pulses, etc. I'm convinced enough to keep the pipe diameter closer to 60mm than 70mm.

Power I do know. At least my car which dynoed at 221whp with the intake and exhaust noted earlier. This on a Mustang dyno (these are reputed to be conservative). Stock is 195 to 200?

Looked at the greddy se and listened to a few sound clips. Sounds very nice but again mixed reviews. If I was to open the search up a little and look at 60mm systems as well(60mm without bungs must be better than 70mm with) I've heard the tanabe is reasonable quiet. Bare in mind I'm not after stock levels of noise or anything just quieter and less drone than the skunk2. Remember I run a de-cat/test pipe.

Lots of varying opinions, ill give my experience with the q300. Ive had 3 exhaust on my s2k over the last 7 years. Q300, Spoon N1 Single, and my current Greddy TIC single.
The first exhaust I purchased was a brand new q300. I got it because people said it was quiet and was definitely affordable. With the stock cat I thought it was TOO QUIET. Now, I was only 18 at the time so maybe the inner ricer in me wanted more. People suggested getting and test pipe and thats what i did. With a test pipe I thought the loudness was perfect. It was quiet at low RPMS and really opened up at redline. But like others have alluded to, in the mid range the rasp was terrible. It honestly was a little embarrassing.
Anyone who says their Greddy single was nearly as loud as the q300 needs their ears checked. The Spoon N1 and Greddy TIC are way louder than the q300. I had to get used to driving with singles because I wasnt used to driving with such loud exhausts.

I have had the Q300, the Skunk2 Megapower, and a UK Mod stock exhaust with test pipe. The two aftermarket exhaust came on the car and I sold both of them as soon as I could. The Q300 should not be associated with the word quiet unless you're legitimately deaf. I agree with the others and would highly recommend the Tanabe Medallion or Greddy SE V2. Greddy sounds more for you because it is a 70-60mm exhaust compared to 60-50 for Tanabe.

I've been off work today and went to see a custom exhaust fabricator not far from me. He builds all sorts off systems for track cars and race cars etc and has a good reputation. He had a look at mine and suggested he could fabricate a drone chamber to the megapower and that it would significantly reduce the drone at cruising speeds and quieten it down a little, without sacrificing too much performance . I think you call them resonator pipes/tube's? . He says he's fit them to a lot of cars over the last couple of years as the noise limits on most UK tracks are down at 98db now. I have had a look and what he's telling me seems to hold true. Anybody heard or had any experience with them. He quoted me £150 fully fitted which is a massive saving if it works over buying another exhaust.

I remember seeing a few threads where people actually added a resonator to tone down the Q300. I believe the 3" Vibrant Ultra Quiet has been the resonator of choice. It should help but I couldn't really say how much.

I added the vibrant resonator back when I made the mistake of buying the q300. It definitely quiets down regular driving around town. Made no discernible difference once the car hit vtec with my HFC. Like many others, I now have the tanabe medallion touring and very pleased with it.

Sounds like just what I'm looking for. I'm going to go for it I think.
