Default K&N FIPK and PLM Header Review

I recently purchased a K&N FIPK Intake off ebay 57-3514, in the directions it said to plug the hole for the air injection pump and drill a new one. I tapped the air temp sensor into the injection pump spot, and works great without having to drill, also looks cleaner. At wide open throttle this sounds so mean,i can feel a difference in vtec with pedel response but not to sure about horsepower. overall im very happy with this product

I also purchased a used plm header or private label from a member here on s2ki, removing the oem header and heat shield was a PITA!, but installing the plm header was easy and fitment was amazing, it was nitrate coated but the orginal person who installed it didnt clean it before starting it up so it has some burn marks in it. I was expecting this header to make my car extremely loud, but in fact just the opposite happend, it took out the drone and loudness of my car from my invidia v3 dual and 70mm test pipe, so just leaves the deep mean sound of all the parts. overall awsome product and very happy with it, i should be ordering flashpro within next few weeks and when i recieve it i will post up a dyno chart of my car

Nice! Now you just need a crossmember cover to finish off the look. I made my own out of sheet metal when I installed my FIPK, then painted it black. It looks so much better!

Can you hear the engine with k&n over the sound of the invidia exhaust? Do you think heat soak is possible with this intake? BTw looks great good job!

I can hear my FIPK over my HKS exhaust sometimes

There have been tests with this intake vs the OEM airbox. The FIPK does experience a little heatsoak when sitting still, but nothing major. Once you start moving, this intake cools down alot faster over the OEM box, resulting in better gains. I had my FIPK in 100+ degree weather and I didnt really notice much of a difference between this and my OEM box when sitting still.

I have a seibon cf hood ,which is vented,
so I don't have to worry about heatsoak

nice mod...I would just be careful until you get the flashpro. The 06+ runs pretty lean from stock. I have just an cai and test pipe, i did a log with flashpro and it ran crazy lean. Don't want to scare you but looking at the log, it wasn't safe. At least not to me. With the header, I would imagine you running leaner than I am.

At least you have the flashpro coming so you can run it safe and quicker

The FIPK is nice, especially with the AUT cooling plate. Their is a nice datalog with this set-up vs OEM in the all motor section. The FIPK/AUT heats up faster while sitting, but cools off quicker and runs cooler than the OEM while moving.

When he's in closed-loop it should be fine, but overall I really agree. My Asura and K&N AFR's shocked the hell out of me. Mine were up in the low 15's if I remember
