License Plate Aero Mod

I see that by mounting it this way, the radiator (or radiator/intercooler in your case) has unobstructed airflow. Looking good!

Back in my F&F days I cut a slight opening in the grill and mounted the plate to two hinges, then mounted the hinges to the underside of the bumper by the top of the grill opening. Put a weight on the back of the plate so that it would stay visible from a stop to about 45mph, then it would be pushed up by the air allowing flow to the radiator, then of course as I slowed down the plate came back down.

I had no issue driving around with no plate for several years in Ca as well. I assume if you get pulled over for another reason such as speeding etc, they will tack on an extra violation fee or whatever tho?

Running no plate in a front plate required State just gives a legit reason to pull you over. If you (and or your car) look at all menacing (or merely scofflaw) to that cop in that place on that day, you're likely to get pulled over, then given a good once over during ticketing process.
They see someone they wish they could hassle, and if no plate, its an open invitation...

I should add that the photo, above, of my front holder is only a photo of the test fit. The idea is that it only takes one bolt to mount it so that it can sit in the trunk but be quickly mounted in the event of a traffic stop. I've owned an S2000 since November of 1999 and have never run it with a front plate without a ticket. Just lucky, I guess.
