Default Looking for vintage exhaust, only older members would know.

Hey guys, I'm looking for an exhaust that only older members would know about. I apologize that I don't even have a picture of it.

I saw and heard it back in 2001 when I attended S2KDays in Asheville, NC at The Dragon. At that time there were very few aftermarket exhausts; HKS, Mugen, etc. This one, I was told, was made by Neuspeed, although that could be incorrect. The thing that made this exhaust stand out was that the tips were TERRIBLE. They were like a squashed oval, and way too small, so quite ugly. However, the exhaust sounded fantastic, not at all deep like the HKS, but brighter and more mechanical sounding, which complimented the F20C perfectly.

I've done a quick Photoshop to show what the exhaust tips sort of looked like.

Does anyone have any idea what exhaust I'm talking about? The Internet is trash these days, multiple searches have turned up nothing from 2001, so any help would be appreciated.

AI had this to say:

You're on the right track with Neuspeed. The S2KI forums confirm that Neuspeed did produce a catback exhaust for the S2000, and it matches your description quite well -- it was notably uncommon on the platform, and the early version (referred to by owners as the "V1") featured distinctive tips described as having small "dimples," giving them an unusual appearance compared to typical round or plain oval tips. The system split into a dual configuration before the resonator section, which was an interesting and somewhat unconventional layout, and it was often compared to the Comptech system in design.
It was simply sold as the Neuspeed cat-back exhaust for the Honda S2000 -- no flashy sub-name that I can find. Neuspeed's primary market has always been VW/Audi, so their S2000 offering was somewhat out of character for the brand, which likely contributed to it flying under the radar in the S2000 community.
The V2 revision reportedly dropped those distinctive dimpled tips in favor of a more conventional look, which is probably why the early version is the one people vaguely remember but struggle to identify. If you're trying to track one down, S2KI's classifieds or forums would be the best place to dig -- it's obscure enough that it won't show up easily in typical searches.

Ah, so it probably was Neuspeed, just the early version. And the packing comment in the linked thread makes sense as well. So AI is actually good for something? Weird.

Doesn’t sound like AI was useful so much as just searching the forum for Neuspeed. AI is just a more efficient way to burn more resources doing so.

in addition to not many people buying the neuspeed exhaust, they made a bunch of different versions of it. So finding your specific one will likely be tricky.

this is from a post here like 17 years ago and looks good, but very different

The one I'm looking for is the very early version. The newer version is pretty easy to find pix of. And I wonder if the company is still under original ownership.

Probably changed tips because they were melting bumpers:

Yeah, I read about that too. I hated the tips, I'm just trying to find out what the magic was with the original (and only the original had the original tips).

Back in 2001 at S2K days we had very few cars with aftermarket exhausts, so they lined them all up and revved them before taking off, and that's when I found that the Neuspeed sound was fantastic, much better than the rest (despite the horrible tips).

I would love to find someone getting rid of their Supersprint exhaust that had the oval tips!

Ah, I remember that name! Was that one of the original exhausts from back then as well?

Yup, sure was & it actually sounded very similar to Mugen(which looked like garbage).
