Default Made a camera mount, cost was about $15 so far.

I have been wanting a camera mount for a while now for when I go racing. I really didn't want to pay $40 plus shipping for the modifry one so I made my own.

I went to lowes and bought a peice of steel, a few bolts, nuts and washers, and some foam weather stripping.

I made it a little bigger than the modifry one hoping to increase stability. I cut it out with my dremel and sanded it down to make all edges smooth. I put the foam strips under it to protect my secret compartment from any scratches. Took me about 30 mins.

It turned out really well and is very sturdy. I can pull up and down on it and it barely moves at all.

I am thinking of having it powdercoated and buying a swivel attachment to put the camera on. Although I don't think I need that because the veiw is pretty spot on.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for looking.

It's not as thin as it looks in the pics. It''s very sturdy. I haven't taken videos with it yet because there was an ice and snow storm.

No problem man. If it does vibrate or anything, I'll just go get another thicker sheet. Hopefully when I get it powdercoated it'll make it a little stiffer.

Last night I added a few large washers and lock washers to a few places and that seemed to make it a little better.

The only thing I didn't think of is opening the secret compartment. The bolt could hit the glass depending on how long of a bolt you have. So, if you plan to just keep it on or if you need to get in there with the top up, you could get a rubber plug that will fit the long bolt that the camera goes on. When you open it the plug with act as a stopper and not tear up your tint and glass.

Not that I really care though because I bought the warrenty for my tint that allows me to get the tint on, and if I feel like ripping it of, I can. Then I can turn around and go back and they will put more on!!!
