My ORTIZ CUSTOM POD story
So, I order the custom steering column cover gauge pod from Ortiz on 4 June 2018. They acknowledge the order, advise that it is a four week item and acknowledge payment and we exchange a couple of emails. My current cover is scratched. So, despite having a new one being made, I order a new one online from Honda Superstore Parts and two days later I have it. Then five weeks later on 9 July, I call Ortiz to find out where my custom pod may be.
They tell me that the OEM steering wheel cover that I got in just two (2) days is on back order at Honda and as soon as it comes in that they will START on my project.
In anger at being misled I cut off my nose to spite my face and cancelled the order.
Then the anger really got the best of me. I decided to make my own. I scoured Internet suppliers for gauge pods that looked to be suitable for mounting to the cover and wound up finding a reasonable candidate on AliExpress. I ordered them and when they came in, I took the new OEM column cover that I got in two days, figured out how to mount them cleanly and made my own damn gauge pod. Who needs ORTIZ?
