Default New guy, planning on a 05 s2k

So I'm new to the scene, especially older cars and Im planning on buying an 05 s2k in my city, Eventually I want to get more power out of it via a turbo (I just prefer turbo over SC), how achievable is this? Mostly im concerned about tuning my car, I read that the 05 s2k doesnt have a OBD plug and play? How easy is it to tune? I have a newer car I tuned with some base maps and it was easy, but its also a 2017. What are the options?

Thanks guys.

The 2006 cars are a significant upgrade from the 2004-2005 which turn were significant upgrades from earlier years. The 2006+ DBW setup puts traction control and stability assist on the car. I'd think traction control wold be very helpful with greatly increased power.

You can "tune" any of these cars but only the 2006+ cars can be tuned using the factory ECU. All the others need aftermarket ECUs. Emissions important where you are? Aftermarket ECUs very often won't pass. My FlashPro tuned 2006 has eliminated any desire to supercharge this car. As did the cost!

Have fun!

Lol at 05 being old. Makes me feel old. You need to do a lot more reading. 00-05 requires a stand alone ECU like AEM, Kpro, Haltech etc. Even though the 06+ cars can use flashpro which is more cost effective for tuning I think it has more limitations than a full stand alone.

I agree. I'm only in my early 40s but have owned a 1975 280Z and a 1983 280zx turbo among many others from the 1980s and 90s. In fact my 2006 S2000 is the newest car I've ever owned. Ican't relate when people call them old school...lol.

I have 05, wish I had 06+ for tuning, 00-05 requires a standalone ECU.
