Default OEM exhaust gasket between cat and exhaust

I bought my car from an older gentleman with 42k miles. He really didn't seem like the type to modify his car especially since it was his wifes car mainly.

When I decided to get a HKS HiPower and put it on I noticed that there wasn't an exhaust gasket between the cat and stock exhaust. Now I have a small leak there with the HKS.

Is there an gasket there from the factory?

My 2007 did not. When I switched to a Buddy Club Pro Spec dual, there were no leaks. When I put my OEM back on, still no leaks. Works fine to this day with just over 41K miles.

Mine had one from the header to the cat, but not the cat to the exhaust, i went to honda to buy one and they gave me some round rubber ring that im' sure would melt if it was on there....

my invida exhaust had one on there when i bought it used though, but i took it off and still have no problems, but it did start to leak/rattle about 6 months after i put it on, i just tightened it up a little more and its been fine for like a year now.

When I installed my Mugen ap2 exhaust I didn't have any gaskets at all. From the header to the cat or cat to the oem exhaust. No leaks, rattle of such. Just make sure everything is tight and secure and you should be good!

My Megan TP came with a gasket. I belive Berk sells them as well. However, the stock exhaust does not have a gasket in that location.

Is this like the secret compartment, we now have a secret gasket?

My MY04 had a crush gasket between the cat and the exhaust. Most aftermarket exhaust use a flange type gasket, either metallic or organic.

I use a gasket between all my exhaust sections, like clean underwear, probably wouldn't matter too much but I like the peace of mind.

Yes there is a gasket. It is a ring like gasket that crushes when compressed and seals the connection. I have been through a couple of them purchased at the dealership. I ordered a real exhaust gasket thing now to make sure it was a good seal on my HKS exhaust. Got it from Berk. Kinda expensive but it is the right shape which I couldn't find anywhere else and seals it up 100%.
