Default OEM vs Afternmarket convetible boot

Hey guys...got a line on a nice used boot for $175. The lady was asking $200 but pretty firm on $175. New they are over $600. It is in excellent share with the exception of a small crack on the edge that will not be seen when installed. At this price level there are a few aftermarket options...do you guys like any aftermarket or should I go for the used OEM?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Drive more worry less...

Convertible boot?

Your profile says you're in the USA, what the hell is a convertible boot? The vinyl/leather tonneau cover that goes over the folded softtop? Those sell for ~$100 if that in the forums. I have a feeling you're talking about the trunk lid though?

Why would you want it? Never used it once, it just sits in the garage. The problem is when you go some place and you want to park and put the top up where do you put it, It doesn't fold well in the trunk.

Have you ever installed one? They are a serious pain to deal with. It's not worth the risk of scratching the paint and trim IMO. I have seen them go for as little as $50 on craigslist, but $100 is common. Some people give up on selling them and say, "hey, please, someone come get this thing out of my basement."
