Opinion on the aFe Takeda intake?

i put silicone on the window before i even installed it , go over "all" your bolts and all your fasteners, some times the bolts inside the intake can work them selfs lose after initial install , make sure "everything" is tight, also make sure vacuum lines and other hoses are not rubbing, grab and wiggle every thing

I can personally attest to the noticeable increase in mid-range power as well as added throttle response in my 07. I had a pretty decent back to back comparison seeing that I recently went back to stock for smog purposes. OE intake really feels muffled compared to this unit. Built quality is great. Plugs right in, in under 10 minutes with basic hand tools and performs well.

I hope the intake produces some decent gains for you guys. It was too ugly for me with all the takeda/afe badges so I went with Comptech although it has its own issues (100% correctable with a little work).

I installed mine a few months ago and am very satisfied with the intake. With the stock intake box, I would experience bog/sluggish acceleration from heat soak upon takeoff and after engaging a new gear, but that is now virtually eliminated. Performance gains are noticeable, with improved acceleration and throttle response. Of course, induction noise is more pronounced compared to the stock box, but not in an obnoxious way like some aftermarket intakes tend to sound. I think it enhances the power delivery, especially mid-range and VTEC engagement.
Aesthetically, aside from the branding, I think it's quite pleasing to look at. It retains the OEM appearance, unlike long tube cold air intakes or even K&N's FIPK which leave a gaping hole in the engine bay. My only complaint would be the rattling/vibrating sensation caused by the clear window on the intake lid, but at least this can be fixed.
Overall, I am quite pleased with my first "real" modification to the car. It only took 9 years. :P

Thank you for all the input in here. I ordered the system with a dry element filter when I saw it go on sale for $343 during their sale. Will be caulking the window before install now!
