ive never been big on vented hoods but the mastergrade super sport style single hood scoop has my name written all over it. im assuming if driven in the rain vented/scooped hoods allow water to flow into the engine bay? do the benefits of cool air into to engine bay outweigh the side effects of having a filthy and wet engine or am i just horribly misinformed about the whole topic?

just something that has bothered me for awhile, thanks!

I've got the MG style hood and I'll tell you what others will tell you. Don't worry about it. Just this morning it was snowing on my S. And she's still running. Dirty but running.

If you buy a good hood they will have channels in it.

With master grade you probably wont have channels or anything so water will splash into the engine bay. and depending on where the scoop is located let water flow onto the head/header/battery/etc.

I have never heard of any issues, but some of the items are not meant to get wet

My hood has a rain channel running along the vents that ends at a cutout near the front radiator support. I poured some water down the"channel" to see where it all went. Not in the engine bay even with the hose straight on.

btw I have mugens hood.
