Recaro Pole Position and BuddyClub Super Low Rails on 2006 AP2

I just installed recaro PPs on buddyclub seat rails.
I wanted the PPs for the longest time after sitting in a Porsche GT3 six years ago. Finally found the PP with the perfect material (red, jersey, and alcantara) from GT Motoring, Tim. I wanted to thank Tim for following up with me and great communication despite some bad reviews.

Anyhow I wanted to write up a DYI for S2000 because none of existing ones tell you what exactly you need.

First, you need an S2000
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...000/photo3.jpg

And a Recaro seat
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/e5d329cb.jpg

And a BC rail
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/93341d2d.jpg

And seat belt extension: http://www.4extender.com/
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/e1cdbb82.jpg

And 4 size M8 bolts. You need to buy these extra since these aren't supplied. Also don't forget 2 washers.
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/73520930.jpg

You need one of these star shaped head for the air bag sensor removal from under the OEM seat
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/97a5fa2c.jpg

Now just to verify the authenticity
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/3c1db39b.jpg

I put some painters tape around the holes to protect the seat
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/167fc3a3.jpg

Take out the original seat by unscrewing 4 bolts.
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/23feaaaf.jpg
Make sure you Unplug the seat belt sensor and air bag sensor before taking it out all the way.

Take out the air bag sensor from the OEM seat and plug it back in and leave it on the floor.

It's the one on the left side in this picture. Don't pay attention to the seat belt receiver in this picture as I put it on the BC rail.

Mount the BC rail like below. Notice how I ran the seat belt extension on the side. It brings the seat belt receiver all the way through the hole and be in a perfect position.
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/16ae189c.jpg

Like so:

Now is the hard part. Aligning the seat into place. I must have took out the seat like 20 times to adjust the BC mounts to fit the holes on the floor. Once you finally align it correctly, unscrew the bottom seat belt screw and run it through the left side hole on the seat
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/0d06a5b8.jpg

And then screw it back in.
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/42e41aed.jpg

Don't forget to plug in the 2 connectors. Seat belt sensor and air bag sensor.
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/4ac51fcd.jpg

I used a towel to protect the back of the seat
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/2e29412d.jpg

A wrench extension was very helpful
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/50d29230.jpg

Use the 2 washers for 2 front bolts since BC has large holes
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p...o/2ed4892e.jpg
Rear ones are ok with using existing bolts.

And... You are done.

Good post! How do you find headroom compared to stock?

eremoy 06-22-2012 03:57 PM

looks really good! About how many inches lower do you think you sit compared to your stock passenger seat?

In the lowest setting, I thought it was way too low for me to be able to drive around. I think it was about 2 inches lower than stock.

Depends on how high or low you set your seat. I'm 5'10" 160 athletic fit and I have hard time driving at lowered position because I'm sitting too low. You need to do keep adjusting until you find your own fit.
