Replacement Axel Shafts for S2K
 

Hi, both my rear inner CV joints are clicking and the agents quoted R3000 +- $300 per CVjoint and about R12000 per Axel shaft (complete) about $1200
I found the below on ebay ...
Complete shafts for under $100 each
SurTrack HO-8158 CV Axle Shaft - left
SurTrack HO-8163 CV Axle Shaft - right

Anyone use these before and what is the verdict on them?
I want to replace the complete shafts and then have my original CV joints rebuilt locally ...

I don't know, $51 and free shipping. I believe you get what you pay for, and for $51 I wouldn't expect much.

rebuilding the damaged inner CV joints?
other replacement shafts?
My issue with the car is that there is a clicking noise when going forward and backwards and especially when going in a tight circle left or right ...
It's not the Axel nuts, replaced them with new ones and had them torqued to the new settings ...
there is play on the inner CV on both sides, more on the right than the left ...
with the car in the air you turn the wheel, the shaft turns but the inner cv part turns are a little delay and the deal on the right is more than the left ...
the net effect of this is that when you accelerate into VTEC and then let go of the throttle to change gears or just let off the throttle the car's rear grips left then right causing the car to get unsettled in the rear ... the play on the inner cv joints and especially the difference in delay from left and right is the only reason I think is causing this as the car was checked out a few times and everything is in order suspension, tyres, bushes, control arms etc ...

Buy the new inner CV from Honda and replace them. Since you are not in the US you don't have a lot of options or if you get a bad part it would be difficult to deal with a return. This car likes the factory hollow axle best, most aftermarket axles are solid and have a tendency to cause vibration. You can also buy good used factory axles too if you can find them. Yea,I'd get used pieces and do it yourself. You could get the aftermarket pieces, but there's a good chance you'll have problems

I decided to get the CV joints done @ the honda dealership ...
I don't have a garage or all the tools I need to do it myself so I'll have to send it inn and they will carry a guarantee on the part and workmanship as well ...
I'ts my weekend ride so I'll just save up for the 2 CV joints and labour costs for now :write: :write:

Whats needed to 'rebuild' the factory axles? The inner CV is clear, but what about the parts that meet the hub, any need to swap anything there?

I'm about to replace wheel bearings and considering options for the CV. I swapped the axle cups not too long ago because I was hearing noise from them, the swap took care of the issue. So not sure I really need to do anything there, just considering it.

Does anyone have the Honda part numbers for the CV's and axles?
