Default Reving the F22c to 9k?

What would it take to make the F22c rev to 9000 easily and reliably like the F20c?

all u need is EMS to rev up to 8600RPM reliably..
or u can get ap1 ECU to rev to 9000RPM..
if u do that, u might want to upgrade valves.

Has anyone here ever done this? Would you get any extra power from doing it?

This is what I came up with;

ap2 motor with ap1 cams.

It might feel like you are making more power up top and pulls hard but the power actually drops off before redline. Why rev up that high you say? We want to say in v-tec when racing.

Why rev to 9k ?

You can rev to 8500 and make power to 8500. If your worried about dropping out of vtec you shift too slow.

Why would you want too if the 2.2L makes the same power at the lowered 8k redline.

according to spoon, the piston speed? of the AP1 at 9000 RPM is equal to that of the AP2 at about 8500. not sure why the need to rev higher if the motor is not built to create further power. i would hope you would not want to just raise the rev limiter just because and possibly decrease your engine's longetivity.

My understanding, limited as it may be, is that spinning up the 2.2 to 9K has oil/heat issues. You'd need to figure out how to fix that.

exactly, peak power on the Ap1 is in the low mid 8k anyways

Why not just lower the vtec engagement to 5600(the hondata re-flash/flash-pro does)...Or get an aftermarket header and lower it to 4200rpm. Much bigger window to shift and stay in vtec.

Flash-pro tune:
Install a header(I prefer the Mugen)
Buy flash-pro
Setup a tune to have vtec engage @ 4200 rpm
Raise red-line safely @ 8500 rpm

Plenty of time to be in vtec and utilize the power-band w/o worry.
(Setup is for DBW '06+ S2000's)
