Default Rubber gasket/seal under spoiler

I have a rubber gasket or seal that is coming off from between the spoiler and trunk. For anyone not familiar its stretchy, thin rubber, not like a double sided sticky gasket. I'm not sure what to replace it with or if it even needs to be replaced. Is it just a matter of unbolting the spoiler? I hate taking things apart if there is no harm in just pulling it out and not replacing.

Thanks,

Toss up a pic if you can, not sure what gasket/seal you mean.

Tough to see since the rubber is black and the car is black, not sure if this helps.

It does look like double sided 3M tape that may have dried up, you could just remove the spoiler and re-tape it.

That is a sealing gasket, more rubber like than foam like, and very thin.. If that is an oem Honda spoiler that was dealer installed there will also be some donut gaskets /O-rings around each of the bolt holes drilled into the trunk lid along the center of the spoiler. If you remove the spoiler the o-ring gaskets will be disturbed so you will need to repair the rubber tape edge and the o-ring gaskets around the bolt holes. Since the tape that is loose is on the rear edge it isn't as important as the leading edge. You can reseal the rubber tape with some gasket sealer like Permatex black or grey or Hondabond. The bolt hole 0-rings will keep the spoiler from leaking into the trunk. So if you decide to pull the spoiler then prepare to repair all areas, interior and along the edges.

Shows removal of a spoiler. If that's stock, there appears to be nothing but the rubber sticky tape holding it on.

I can't watch with sound, so don't know details.

I've been kicking around removing mine as I think it may look better without it.

Thanks for the replies. It is bolted on to the car with one bolt on each end. Since it came out on the back side of the spoiler and I more potential downside to removing the spoiler I trimmed off the deteriorated piece and used the finest soft kitchen utensils I could find to tuck in the end.
