Damnit... they don't have one available for MY06...

Enthralled 11-12-2006 07:01 PM

why not...?whats inside the seat...?
I know my car has a seat belt sensor for the drivers side but nothing in the passenger side....

sprix! 11-12-2006 07:05 PM

Well my car has sensors for both sides, but I dunno why they don't have it.

I put a seat heater from www.warmseats.com in my drivers seat last year. It only took a couple hours for the one side and it's totally worth it. I wired it to the cigarette lighter and put the switch right next to the lighter.

The hog rings are probably the hardest part. I just cut them off with wire cutters and then used heavy duty zip ties when I put the seats back together. It was MUCH easier than trying to use the hog rings.

I'm sure people are going to say that's ghetto and it will never work, but they're super strong and there's no way you could ever tell the difference when it's put back together.

In a tangentially-related thread, someone mentioned seat heaters from www.checkcorp.com. I checked it out and the price isn't bad, but I want more info -- does anyone hereon have any experience with these, or any other aftermarket seat heaters for the S?

OK, maybe even thinking about it makes me old, but chilly commutes with the top down might be nicer with another source of heat, I'm thinking.

The owner of this company (Bob Check) has been providing these solutions to the automotive companies for years. I met him in the early 90's and he is a stand up guy, with a great product.

That seals the deal! I am getting them for sure now! I might even sleep in the car with the seat heaters on to make sure they are doing the job! We have 2 and 3 year olds...11 months apart. :)

Uh, sleeping in the car should itself take care of the kid-fathering problem, shouldn't it?
