Default Shorai battery melted!

Hello s2ki community, need some assistance please. Last week my shorai battery melted while still in the engine bay. Luckily nothing else was damaged as far as I know. Waiting to for my deka etx16 battery to arrive before I verify. Only had the shorai for about 2 months. Here's a summary of what happened:
- Parked car at airport for about a week (Sun-Fri). Did not disconnect terminals (probably should have).
- Came back on Friday and car wouldn't turn over. Tried at least 5-6 times.
- Called roadside assistance and they jumped the car for me
- Drove home, 30-35 min, and as soon as I arrived home the engine shutoff by itself.
- Opened my hood and heard a loud hissing sound coming from the battery. Seconds later my battery started to smoke.

Shorai said they would sell me another one at 50% discount but my main concern is why this happened. My car is a DD, stock engine, and has the OEM alarm system. I'm guessing that had a parasitic draw on my battery which caused it to discharge. Are these shorai batteries not supposed to be jump started? Or is it something else in my electrical system? Any help would be appreciated.

Read here:

Battery Charging - Shorai Lithium Batteries

Jumping the battery killed it.

"If using a lead acid style charger, do NOT use if it has an automatic "desulfation mode", which cannot be turned off. Lead acid charger/tenders can be used for regular maintenance charging and then be disconnected after the battery is fully charged. DO NOT leave the lead acid charger connected to store the battery, because most will NOT maintain the proper voltage for lithium batteries. IMPORTANT- if the LFX battery is deeply discharged below 12.86V only a lithium charger with cell balancing can be used to recover the battery. The Shorai BMS01 charger or the Hyperion EOS 720 chargers are the suggested balance type chargers."

Definitely the jump start that did it. Lucky they are giving you 50% discount on a replacement.

UGH!

Was your body work damaged by the battery? You are lucky the car didn't catch fire.

Better clean all residue off, before replacing. Good luck!

Deep discharge and not balance charging the cells after is the cause of the meltdown.
Did you see any flames coming from the battery?
I think these kind of batteries (LiFePO4) should not catch fire like some of the other chemistrys, there is a tremendous amout of heat generated when they fail though.

Does anybody know if Battery Tender Jr. (0.750 AMP CA approved version) will cause any harm to a Shorai battery?

I'm confused. A motorcycle/riding lawnmower in a car? I realize it's light but these have about a 10 AH capacity.
