Default Skunk2 Products

Hi guys, I'm kinda sorta new to the game here with modding the f20. I'm finally getting on the track to saving up some money so I can blow it all on the car. so to my question no. I was wondering what you all thought of going for a full valvetrain from skunk2. I'm planning on boosting the car and hopefully gaining around 350 once I'm donw with the car. I was thinking Skunk2 Ti springs, retainers, and valves. Also adding on the skunk2 intake manifold and throttle body. Then I've looked at several different cams for the car as well but not smart on that piece. If it's just going to be a daily driver but still with some power should I go with a mild cam or something more aggressive? Thanks for your time

None of that is needed for 350hp at all. Just leave it all stock and your good to go for some boost as long as your engine is healthy. Leave in stock cams.

I agree. A low boost setup is all that is required. The oem internals in the f20 are really strong and the cams and intake manifold are very well designed- and very hard to improve upon.

And I don't think skunk2 ever came out with an intake manifold for the f20/22. The only aftermarket intake manifolds that I have seen (that improve over the stock piece) retail for over 1k.

Buy a used Supercharger kit or log turbo kit. You'll reach your goals no problem. Like said above, no need to upgrade the engine at all.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Right now my motor is sitting at around 157k as it is my daily driver. I've driven it all over creation being in the military so that's why I was leaning towards the rebuild or upgrades listed. I've heard that the bottom end can support up to about 500hp but that for me is YEARS down the road. I have minor upgrades already being an invidia test pipe going to an Invidia N1 exhaust and a no name intake off ebay which is soon going to be replaced. I was thinking of going with the ProStreet turbo kit.

Again thanks for the suggestions

I stay away from Skunk2. I know that inline pro and a number of other companies make valve trains kits that are reasonable. You could also just upgrade to AP2 internals and be fine. I have never heard of the Prostreet turbo kit. I think you would be better off picking on a used comptech or SOS kit from someone on here. They have be had for around $3k and are proven quality kits.

Get your motor compression/leak down tested and go from there. With 157k on the clock its a good peice of mind to know what kind of health the motor is in.

If everything checks out ok. Then just get a simple bolt on log style setup and a good tune and you will be happy.

I've been doing some reading on titanium valves in a daily driver and it seems like everyone says not to go that route. Just throwing that out there...
