Yeah, well aware of people all to happy to parrot information with which they have no personal experience. It is one of the pitfalls of forums...someone says something, someone else hears it and presents it in response to the same question elsewhere in an effort to be helpful. I have spent way to much money and time trying to solve issues based on this type of advice in the past. (That being said, I am not talking about the advice of Tehlonz above; he was speculating and very clear about that. I am referring to people that speak with confidence that something WILL work or IS the problem based on something the read one time from some guy that dealt with it.)

My worst personal example is when I spent $300 + 6 hours of work replacing the PCV system on my Volvo based on bad advice when all I really needed was new dip-stick o-rings ($0.50, 15 seconds to replace).

Browsing Ebay came across these from a UK vendor.

Surely looks different than my Ap1 rack.

Curious though if you could swap the internals out and keep the Ap2 housing for all the ancillaries bolted to it.

I was actually referring to when one has direct personal experience, that later becomes obsolete, and they don't realize it. Say they know from first hand experience that an ap1 rack fits in an '05 ap2. So they say definitively that ap1 rack fits ap2. They were right at one time, and are still right, but only partly. It fits only certain versions of ap2.

My point is about accurate info hat becomes inaccurate.

A more likely scenario is when you are reading older posts where the info was in fact still 100% accurate at time of posting, but no longer is.

Having driven many CRs and many AP2s, the difference really isn't very significant. It would be worthwhile to do this at the snap of a finger, but the actual effort needed likely is better spent elsewhere.
