TODA timing chain tensioner and Timing chain

I searched and I failed. I think this is a new product for the F20C.

http://www.toda-racing.co.jp/en/product/ca...-tensioner.html

Any feedback from you guys?
My car has had the bike spoke rattle already and honestly im kinda scared to use it now, was wondering if this can work on a stock F20C, hoping that it would be more durable than the stock TCT? thanks a bunch guys.

Man, the stock TCT really doesn't fail as much as you'd think. You can probably buy loads of them to pay for a single Toda one. The vast majority of us have never seen failures of the stock TCT (including myself) and, as I understand it, the installation of a new one is not that bad.

Save some money. Go stock.

contact billman? i think that is his sn...

JEEBS 05-21-2010 04:58 AM

Its only about $250 USD. I would pay that if meant that it never "fail" again. I've seen threads where people have replaced them with new onesand those failed after a short period of time. I'm curious about the outcome of this product.

I'm willing to bet that the toda one is an oem part with the billman fix.

Looks like it has a manual adjustment from the pic. Shame they don't publish any instructions on the website.

That nut and screw on the backside of the tensioner is for installation only. There is no manual adjustment from what I can see. It looks exactly like an oem tct without the small pin holding the piston in for installation.

billman fix? is this the fix wherein you stretch the spring?

Sandblast the worm gear inside and out.

Hi guys,

I took the plunge and bought the TODA one. I was In need of a new one anyway having sandblasted my old one and it returned itself to buzz after about 5000 miles.

At first glance the only difference is Toda Racing printed on the casing. I took it apart alongside the OEM and all parts appear to be the same, worm gear doesnt look any different, springs are the same. Thought hey ho... worth a go.... HOWEVER.... went to install it and upon removing the maintenance bolt and putting the oil bolt in the difference became apparant. The TODA's oil bolt is recessed into the hole by about 5-7mm(OEM is flush). A modification that im sure anyone with decent machine tools could carry out. All oil ways seem to be the same size as OEM.

I can only assume that in reducing the volume of oil on the piston side of the oil bolt, you are increasing the pressure... anyone confirm?

Car sounds fine. Puts this question to bed anyway!

I was thinking about buying the Toda one also, but I took the plunge yesterday on the inlinepro race spec TCT. I live local to inlinepro, so I removed my TCT and took it to them. It took jeremy one hour to complete the job. I asked him if he simply sandblasted the worm gear, he told me they do something else and sandblasting the worm gear is only a band-aid. My oil bolt is also recessed by a bit, perhaps Toda and inlinepro found out something we don't know?

Only time will tell really, sure its cured my noise (as I would expect a new OEM to) but the question is with respect to longevity.... is this possibly a permanent fix?....

Ask me again in a years time :)

aDoG 03-08-2011 03:30 PM

Lol will do :)

Any reveiw yet? Its been a year... Lol

aston19uk 08-12-2013 11:16 AM

I have been reading alot on the Tct threads in the uk section. I have read that a couple of the Toda ones have failed.

Moddiction 08-12-2013 07:23 PM

Just contact billman for his tct. He guarantees it for life! Just got mine in from him. So nice to have the noise gone.
