Default Torque sensor repair kit.

Steering Repair Kit Shaft Torsion Bar With the Angle Sensor GS1F3212Y For Mazda 6 GH 2007 2012|Steering Wheels & Steering Wheel Hubs| - AliExpress

Same exact housing part number and torsion bar. If this fits into the torque sensor housing this is a viable replacement costing 1/4th of a new OEM unit.

The plastic housing on the slip ring can form a groove in the plastic if the piece is unlubricated for extended periods. Once you reach that point no amount of cleaning will return functioning to the unit and you will need to buy a new one or use the repair kit above.

I have never heard of including this lubrication in some kind of maintenance item. How do you know it is unlubricated?

Its been documented how to remove sensor, disassemble, clean and lubricate. DIY in this forum.

Not a preventative maintenance task per se (though ok if you do). But if you're having steering issues, this would be step 2 (step 1 being the steering relearn process).

I am familiar with the DIY. (I happen to have a used sensor off eBay just in case.) It seems you just wait for the thing to act up.
