You can make them fit okay, but the best fit will always come with the 2 piece mounts as they squeeze down when turned. I had 2 piece but every time I looked at it I saw $$$ signs and couldn't justify having them when they were only used once a year....so I sold em and went with 1 piece

The best fit I got out of my OEM top was with OEM rear mounts and fixed fronts with the correct amount of shimming.

It takes some patience to dial in the front height so that you're not tearing the weather seal and ruining the look of the car by having the top sucked down past the windshield header.

But its solid AF now.

I do miss being able to easily remove the top on warm nights though....

I was happy with permanent front locks but after a while I started to think how much it would suck IF somehow the screws pulled out the threads on the oem top from curbs or just taking driveways at extreme angles from flex.. I went back to oem latches out of fear and deal with the squeaks

lol my screws have never backed out in years.

If they did...they can be tightened.

What exactly is the risk?

I am talking about the threaded insert being stripped out, not the bolts loosening. The risk wasn't worth it for me with an authentic Mugen and now Oem top I'd have never forgive myself if I ruined a 4k dollar top. The cheap tops have done this.

I never considered this aspect. I've just been living with the squeaks out of laziness. Lol

But...the OEM latches also bolt in and apply preload pressure to keep the top tight.

Are you just worried that the fixed ones don't have enough give or something?

I feel like the movement and rattles that are present with OEM front latches would present similar issues for the bolting locations.

Just wondering is all. Obviously, its your car and your top.
