who is happy with their fixed hardtop mounts

But...the OEM latches also bolt in and apply preload pressure to keep the top tight.
Are you just worried that the fixed ones don't have enough give or something?
I feel like the movement and rattles that are present with OEM front latches would present similar issues for the bolting locations.
Just wondering is all. Obviously, its your car and your top.

They don't have give. They're ratcheted down.
If they have give, its because the mechanism is loose.
There's two of them. So they won't pivot unless the top is used as a fulcrum and it bends/wobbles a bit.
I suppose you have some give if you flex the windshield header backwards.
Anyway, the OEM top has weld nuts, IIRC...not inserts.
And I guess OEM is "safest". But they will rattle and make noise...no doubt about that.

Quality wise, i have the izzy front mounts and there's really no issue. it's a solid piece of metal. It can be bent or shimmed easily for a super solid seal with zero rattles or air leaks in the front.
Side catcher wise, i would not buy fixed mounts. Stick to OEM as there is tons of adjustment and the tightening ability with the OEM hardware is superior to any aftermarket options. If you buy fixed mounts for the sides, there is no way to get a good seal other than having someone/something put a lot of downward pressure on the top while you tighten it--seems like a gigantic PITA to me.

I run the Ballade front mounts on my Shine top, I jack the car up a lot and have never had to readjust anything. I also worried about flex pulling the inserts on the top at first, but then I decided it couldn’t be any worse than the constant micro movements in the OEM latch. I’ve been using the solid mounts for awhile with no ill effect. At the end of the day the squeak made me hate driving it so much that I never drove it, it just sat there. I drive it more now that it’s silent so screw it.
