Why is 220 whp your desired goal? Is is solely for acceleration purposes b/c if that's the case then get gears and call it a day.

im just looking for a little more power. and reliability like a stock car. i don't wanna mess with ecu... little more kick thats what i want without messing with a/f ratio. if i was to mess with that i'll just get a aem ems and supercharge it. but i just want to see simple bolt ons making power. one of the post said he made 213whp with aem intake v2 and berk 3' headerback. im talking bout that kinda stuff.

bolt ons will net you gains but very minimal. tuning those mods with an aem will net you more in midrange and better drivability. if smog is your concerns with aem you can just swap it out with oem ecu for smog and swap back when you pass. same thing with a test pipe. think you're asking a lil much out of an ap1, might as well get a dbw and flashpro it. just my .02

ur right. i didn't do my homework b4 or else i would've gotten a dbw. im just trying to make the best of it now since i have it. but if I do take the aem off for emissions and after smog put it back on, would the tune still be saved in the aem and be back to normal after plugged in

Absolutely 220whp is possible without a EMS, that's just silly talk. Been there done that. 00-01 provides the most gains from bolt on's without a tune because it runs the richest afr out of the line up (Overly rich) A TP/intake and A vafc will typically get you there on a DynoJet, if you go beyond that and actually acquire better breathing Single Exhaust, TB and manifold port etc or are just running a 04-05 F22 (leanest of the bunch)and may then actually require more fuel to run safe, then adding a simple Adjustable fpr in place of the stock one, increasing fuel pressure will give you all you need, and of course you can trim out any of the less desirable afr at any point in the rpm range with the vafc shaping your fuel curve. The vafc does not re learn anything if your tuning for above 50% throttle in Open Loop IE; "Wide throttle" per vafc lingo. If anyone you wants any more detailed info on this affordable/reliable set up feel free to PM me. I always recommend running a Wideband to have reference of your afr no matter what level you take the mods to.
