Default '02 f22 project...

figured i'd post this in here since it'll fit well. bought an '02 unknowing to me that the f20 was blown... found an f22 long block, the rest is in the pictures...this has all been over the last...3 weeks.

usually oil doesn't drain out when you tilt your trailer...so this is the moment my new car purchase went to $#it. i had given up on repairing it till i found a good deal on a F22 long block...though it was 4hrs away.

Prepping for surgery

surgery has begun

Diagnosis: Boom!

engine bay empty

getting new motor ready to go in (yeah i need to clean it up, i know) still need a new starter before i progress any further.

don't have a starter yet but i was tired of the motor laying on the floor in my way. (yep, using orange rachet straps...)

Engine is in place on the mounts, then called it a night. i only work for an hour or so every day or every other day on it...

Nice, but um, how do you buy a car with a blown motor and not know about it?

Good question, especially since you can stick you fist through the block. Didn't notice

believe it or not, when the engine is completely together...the exhaust manifold completely blocks view on the passenger side, and on the drivers side there is so much misc. crap in the way (starter, waterpump, hoses, etc...) that you can't see anything either. Maybe with a high power flashlight and Just the right angle MAYBE i could have seen Something but, it's questionable and would have had to be at just the right angle.

Bummer, hope you didn't pay much and with any luck the head is good and you can make some money back on that.
