Default 05 AP2 Tuning

So I've been searching around and I understand now that not only was 2004 the year of the AP2 but also that 06 was a significant model change. I'm looking into light N/A modification as I just don't have the dough to supercharge like I want to. I've found that flashpros aren't even made for my 2005 model year. I can't really find some good comprehensive info on what tuning applications are out there for my 2005. What is off limits for me? I'm likely going to get a CAI eventually to improve efficiency, sound and power (slightly). The only other option I have read exists to provide a power increase to speak of is tuning. What are my options?

your options are Haltech, aem or k-pro. go with whichever your tuner feels most comfortable with.

I'm looking to remain reliable and safe above all. Now I'm not familiar with how tuning works with these. I had a GTI and I would go to a dealer who would load the software and that's it. Do they send you the device to load the software with a tune preloaded or do you have to manually do it? Hope I'm not too hard to understand.

the 00-05 model years do not have an option for flashing the stock ecu. you have to either piggy back to the stock ecu or better yet replace it altogether with a standalone ecu. two of the above mentioned ecu's are standalones. talk to your tuner and ask what option they would recommend and go from there.

Find a local tuner first and then decide based on what he is comfortable tuning. I'm personally going with aem v2. I've got a 05

You can buy haltech P&P (works with all non-dbw cars). Requires 0 rewiring.
