Haha thanks hermano.

When I installed my challenge 76TA-R exhaust, I was no longer able to hear the fipk, at all. With this new setup, I can now hear a bit of intake noise! So it is definitely a bit louder than the fipk. The sound of the air being sucked in under partial throttle is also more pronounced now. Throttle response feels way better, and the engine feels stronger overall. I will be sure to post back when I get the car retuned in a couple weeks!

Looking at those pictures I cant see how in the world you fit that filter over that giant velocity stack. Im kind of fed up with my FIPK and want to make an intake with an AEM filter, bigger piping and a velocity stack. I just cant decide if I wanna go the CAI route or make something of similar design of the FIPK like you. Ive got an AUT style cooling plate that I feel would go to waste / look stupid without an intake filter sitting infront of it, so I may do something like this. Looks great!

I just went to a local authorized vibrant distributor and ordered the parts. One stop, one shop, no wasting time sourcing from multiple places. Hth!

What was changed between these dyno runs? I'm assuming this is K&N FIPK to 4" only?

K LO QUE 04-26-2012 01:18 PM

Sorry my previews post is not clear.

So the first run was with the 4" intake and the wrong tuning for the parts at the time. When I first tuned the car I had a 60mm test pipe and a FIPK.

The 226.41 are from a 3" intake pipe with a velocity stack, PLM header, 70mm test pipe, Greddy SE and tuning.

After trying different setups I was able to get the most power out of a 3" aluminum intake pipe with a velocity stack and the correct test pipe for my header and exhaust.

P.S. When I first got my test pipe I thought it was a 70mm, but it was 60mm.

You found 3" to make more power than 3.5" and 4"? Seems to contradict what others found earlier in this thread. Was that tested without changing other variables like the test pipe, tune, etc?

Do you have the charts for those tests?

I will be going for a re-tune Friday evening.

My previous tune was done with an FIPK, T1R 60~63mm resonated test pipe, and HKS dual. My AP2 put down 214hp on the old setup, which is great knowing how restrictive the HKS duals are, and the known resonance problems caused with cats and resonated test pipes.

This time, the tuning will be done using my new 3.5" intake (aluminum tube, velocity stack, massive AEM 6" filter), Hytech/Challenge 76mm test pipe, and Challenge 76TA-R exhaust.

I'm hoping to hit mid-220's this time around! The old tune was done on a DynaPack dyno. Tomorrow's tuning session will also be done on a DynaPack dyno, but with a different tuner.

Tuning have A LOT of variables... In my particular case with the parts I had at that moment, the tuner was able to get more power out of 3" intake with a velocity stack than with a 4" intake with out a velocity stack. I didn't try a 3.5" intake cause I didn't have one.

There was a different of 6 horse power between 4" pipe with out stack and 3" pipe with velocity stack. This was done back to back with the only variable been the intake and velocity stack.

I might be able to get the charts.
