I built a 3.5" custom ram intake this weekend however I'm noticing a loud vibration which could possibly be my air filter hitting the felt liner on the bottom of the hood. This only seems to happen when I rev over 6k rpm. I used an old k&n fipk air box and think I might be able to make more room by cutting a slightly larger hole to allow the intake to ride lower.
Will this be a long term problem if the filter continues to hit the liner or could I put some padding on the liner to reduce the vibration? Or does anyone have a suggestion for a lower profile filter cone? I'm using a 6" AEM filter. |

I am using the K&N airbox for mine as well. The Filter sits about level with the top of the box. I did modify the elbow bracket that held the K&N intake arm to fit the 3.5" intake. I do not have rubbing issues, I also do not have the hood liner installed.
I don't have an image straight on from the front of the car, but you can get a feel for what is happening from this photo. Attachment 84934 |

Everything in due time. I wish I had enough time and money to do everything at once.

does anyone have the dimensions on the fipk fox portion alone so that someone could remake it to use with bigger piping
