Any objective tests on cooling plates?

I think I will just leave it slightly rubbing then. Doesn't bother me, just makes a little mark on the cooling plate. Damage is done already so if I get a new one I will find a way to raise it up slightly.

You might first try buffing out the marks with an ROB. If that works, glue a small piece of thin felt to the part of the inner hood that is rubbing. If buffing does not work, put a round piece of thin felt (from Home Depot and the like) over the scratches. It will probably look like it came that way!
