Talking Any official Oil Cooler thread?

Hey guys hows it going? Hope all is good

Here's the deal: Im looking to fit an oil cooler kit. Oil temps get close to 145C while im racing and I'd like to lower it by at least 20C on same conditions. I am only considering installing a kit that has a built-in thermostat (Like the Greddy/Trust kit) since I want to avoid overcooling under normal DD conditions. My engine has been re-built 10K mi ago and all internals were upgraded. I'm all motor.

145C wont damage the engine but it cooks the oil pretty good so I end up changing it before the next session. I use fully synthetic oil.

I've seen several threads about oil coolers but I could not see good technical info like:

Oil temps before and after under normal conditions, peak temp before and after under racing conditions, etc etc.

I'd like to see some pics of other kits as well as some brief technical reviews from people that actually own them, to keep a clean thread

Thanks guys,

Surprised that no one responded. I'm sure I'm not the only one with the Trust Oil Cooler kit.

Have this installed for nearly 8 years now, one of the very first mods I did when I started modifying and hitting the track. I also have a matching oil temperature gauge to measure how hot things get.

Before the oil cooler, the temperate would remain constantly high, over 120 ~ 140 degrees celsius on hard driving and track. With the oil cooler installed, the temperate was significantly reduced to 110 ~ 120 on average. No change of engine oil brand or type, hence the oil cooler measurement is an indicative improvement.

Sorry to sound stupid, but why would you wantto keep the oil cool bar reducing change intervals... Does it improve engine output also ?

Did you have to install an inline pump or does it use the engines oil pressure?

This is great info. Thanks for sharing that. Those are the numbers I'm looking for

Anyone else using a different or same kit?

The oil cooler is used to regulate oil temps while racing. You would still change the oil at the same intervals you are accustomed to. And it does not improve output.

The added capacity is a bonus too. Is it hard on the engine at all to have to pump oil through the added system?

I wouldn't think so given the oil system is running at such high pressure at peak (7 Bar or about 100 psi).
