Hit reply too quickly... My other thought is that it shouldn't matter if its 5th or 6th as they are both overdriven.

I am going to see if I can get a reading of both the factory and AEM ECU runs overlaid to see where the power is being found.

I will post the dyno sheet tomorrow once I get the car back.

What kind of dyno is being used?
Can't really see any reason why only 6th would be used, this and the low result kind of questions the tuners knowledge as well as any real engine problem.
You should really get that dyno plot posted here since that tells way more than just one number without even a rpm point.

Should run in 4th...the closest gear to 1:1

Edit: Or is it 3rd on this car?

Where is the dyno?

you are also running 4.77, have you accounted for this change?

4th gear closest to 1:1. Its what most tuners use in my experience.

I don't see why it should be run in 4th? If anything, it should be 5th (4th: 1.161 5th: 0.970), I'd run out of 4th gear with my 4.77 FD which my tuner is aware of.

It's a Dynapack dyno as stated in the OP.

Will post dyno plots here later today once I get the car back.

Run it in 5th. 6th makes no sense. Not like your going to have traction issue on the roller at your power level and gearing.

Remember he has 4.77. I don't think he could run the car up to redline with them, also with 180kmh limiter. It has to be 4th if I'm not mistaken. How are you adjusting the speedo for the gear offset?

I am putting in a Modifry yellow box which is ready to go in. Remember this is a hub dyno so the dynometer is bolted straight to my hubs.

Dyno sheet as promised.

A few things I want to clarify:
  • The tuner is probably the best in my area, arguably in my country with a few exceptions but they're in another city and its a pain to go back and forth to a city 8 hours away.
  • He spent considerable time running it up in 4th and 6th to check the differences. In 4th, it spun 144.3kw before running out of gear.
  • His first recommendation to me was to check if the motor has been accidentally decompressed and to recheck the timing.
He noted that the motor wanted to be in VTEC from very low in the revs - currently it can engage VTEC at 3500rpm which seems very low. Fuel maps said were spot on, could advance ignition timing as per usual and had no issues on the AFR.

The dyno is definitely not the issue here nor the tuner - he had a AP1 similar to mine in NA which did 158kw only last week.

If you have any specific questions you'd like me to pass on, I can do that too.

That's 195hp roughly. Rev it to 9k.looks like he let off early?
if I'm thinking about this right, your ecu is prematurely seeing 180 since the shorter gears
