Default Camshafts, there must be info on Catcams

Hello all,

I am pretty new to this forum but ill get right to it. I am looking into upgraded camshafts for MY00. Brian Crower stage 2's look promising, and then I see Catcams, they have aggressive non-vtec lobes and high duration. MY00 is running a stock ecu with a VAFC2, I have a K&N CAI and 70mm exhaust from the headers back with a wideband. Anyway I was going to go with the Brian Crowers and install over the winter, but these Catcams look great. Sadly there is no info in the official thread and info for them online is scarce, was hoping someone here is familiar with them.

Thanks
Ryan

I would go with the BC stage 2's people have had some great numbers form them and a lot of people use them. Its usually best to go with what has been proven to provide power.

in reality, there is 0 point in a more aggressive non vtec lobe- if your not in vtec while accelerating, this car is not going anywhere

If you're staying N/A why wouldn't you want more power throughout your powerband?

you say powerband, but you mean engine rev range. yes you want more power in your powerband and increasing the size of your powerband by lowering vtec. stock, the s2000's powerband is 6k plus but its proven that it makes power from below 5k if vtec is engaged earlier. idk if that makes sense

which is strong evidence for them being a waste of money.

why do people want power in this car below 4500 rpm? its built to rev, lower your vtec and call it a day. if you want low end torque, cams are the wrong place to spend money.

spending money to make minute amounts of power in rev ranges that you dont use to drive fast is purelly bench racing stupidity. its not that difficult to keep the car in vtec, and lowering vtec makes it effortless. when im out of vtec, I want gas mileage and smoothness- if someone cut a cam like that(max gas mileage low end), id buy the shit out of it.

but id never ever buy a cam using off vtec power gains as even a thought. vtec fast mode, low cam slow mode

OP, you may have to be the test dummy regarding these cams since the trend on this forum is to boost, keep your f2X stock, or buy overpriced JDM parts. If you decided on theses, I would suggest getting the supporting mods (valve springs, retainers, etc) and upgrading to an EMS since these cams appears to be quite aggressive.
